Description

The daguerreotype was the first photographic technique to achieve universal diffusion. The first known local daguerreotypist opened his studio in Buenos Aires in 1843. The reproduced images belong to the National Historical Museum of Buenos Aires and the Enrique Udaondo Museum in Luján. This volume serves as a catalog of their respective collections, which are the largest and most important in the country. Many of these daguerreotypes have exceptional iconographic value, such as the only known image of General José de San Martín. María Sánchez de Thompson.
