Lestido, Adriana
(Argentina 1955)
Lestido is an expert practitioner of direct, black-and-white photography. She has been producing photographic essays since the ‘80s, covering various aspects of motherhood in different combinations and variants: Hospital Infanto-Juvenil (Children and Youth Hospital), Madres adolescentes (Teenage Mothers), Mujeres presas (Imprisoned Women), Madres e hijas (Mothers and Daughters), etc. These series are connected as they share an introspective vision; the documentary style used is at once a tool offering a particular way of approaching the subject, and a specific kind of photography.
