This book offers an overview of Gian Paolo Minelli’s work over the past decade. The photographs were taken in thematic series, often over an extended period of time. Until now, most have been exhibited and published separately; however, many are shown here for the first time. The selection of images reveals that behind the various cycles of work—portraits, urban landscapes of the Piedra Buena neighborhood, awnings suspended over parking lots, abandoned objects in the Colón Theatre, the walls of the former Caseros Prison, and portraits of undocumented immigrants in Rome—lies a common and powerful approach. Here, photography goes beyond mere reportage or stylistic device, becoming both a social testimony and an artistic project that challenges the boundaries of the genre.
