The relationship between photography, anthropology, and the indigenous peoples of Tierra del Fuego crystallized in the late 19th century. This volume allows us to explore the results of a thorough investigation, which culminated in the compilation of a large corpus of photographs grouped by author. Many of the images presented here have acquired diverse social, historical, cultural, and aesthetic connotations, making a fundamental contribution to shaping a vision and imagery of Tierra del Fuego.
