Calógero, Hiram

He was born in Argentina in 1885 and died in 1957. A pioneer in the experimentation between photography and pigment processes, he specialized in the bromoil technique. At a young age, he settled in Rosario, Santa Fe province, where he graduated as an accountant. His profession led him to hold public positions, including being the manager of the Banco de la Provincia de Santa Fe. He was a founding member of the Sociedad Argentina de Artistas Plásticos in Rosario, promoter of the Federación Argentina de Fotografía, president of the Peña Fotográfica Rosarina, co-author of the gelatin-silver bromide technique, editor of the only book on pigment processes in photography in Argentina, founder of the first photography club in Rosario, and a contributor to several specialized photography magazines in the country. Calógero was also a winner and judge in numerous national and international photography salons and awards. Additionally, he is the only Argentine included in the collection of the renowned French Society of Photography.
