Muchiut, Daniel
Daniel Muchiut (Chivilcoy, Buenos Aires, 1967) is an Argentine photographer, designer, curator, and filmmaker. He is the co-founder and curator of Fotogalería 22, a permanent space at the Museo de Artes Plásticas de Chivilcoy since 1988, and has coordinated workshops on Photographic Aesthetics since 2000. He trained with Julian Germain (London) and John Duncan (Ireland), and has built a career that includes more than 120 solo exhibitions and over 150 group shows across Latin America, Europe, and the United States.
Internationally, he has presented solo exhibitions such as La vida de Oscar (Kunsträume der Michael Horbach Stiftung, Germany, 2025); Argentinos / Los Hijos de la Tierra (Kunsträume der Michael Horbach Stiftung, Germany, 2021); Tierra (Argentine Consulate in Mumbai, India, 2018); Photograph Animals (Museum of the History of Medicine and Pharmacy, Kaunas, Lithuania, 2009); Hombres de Barro at Galerie Renoir, Cinéma Le Latina (Paris, 2003) and at Centro de la Imagen (Mexico City, 2003), both awarded the Martín Chambi Prize; as well as exhibitions at Maison d’Amérique Latine, France (2002), EFTI Madrid and EFTI Valencia (2001), FOTOFUTURA Madrid (1999), Colegio Mayor Argentino in Madrid (1998), and the ARCO International Contemporary Art Fair (Madrid, 1997).
In Argentina, he has presented exhibitions such as El pulso de la piel (Arte x Arte, Buenos Aires, 2023); ADELINA (Teatro Argentino de La Plata, 2023); La Vida de Oscar (FOLA, 2019); Bolivia (Medasur Cultural Center / Festival de la Luz, 2018); La Fábrica (Museo de la Cárcova / Festival de la Luz, 2016); Ellos Cuentan (Museo Pompeo Boggio, 2015); La Memoria en Medio del Ruido (Museo Pompeo Boggio, 2014); Lequeyo (MACA, Junín, 2013); Cantor Popular (MUMA, Junín, 2011); Retrospectiva (Trelew, 2008); La Vida de Oscar / Las Flores del Mal (Fotogalería Teatro San Martín, 2000); and Hombres de Barro along with other series (Centro Cultural Recoleta, 1991).

Throughout his career, he has received distinctions such as the Michael Horbach Foundation Photography Prize (Germany, 2025); the Creation Grant from the National Fund for the Arts (2022); the Special Mention from the European Union in Argentina (2021); the First Acquisition Prize Pampa y Energía at FOLA (2018); selection for the National Salon at the Palais de Glace (2017); the Second Prize at the 10th UM Art Biennial (2010); the Luz Austral Foundation Grant at Fotofest Houston (2008); the Luz Austral Foundation Prize at Expotrastiendas (2004); the First International Juan Rulfo / Martín Chambi Prize (2002); the First Prize in Documentary Essay IFA for La Vida de Oscar (2000); and the First Prize Feria del Sol from the Friends Association of the MNBA (1997), among other recognitions.
