Workshop for children: abstract explorations

Workshop led by Marina Oybin and intended for children aged 10 to 15.

Based on the exhibitions Photographic Abstractions, curated by Alexis Fabry, and A Personal Sea, by Francisca López, curated by Rafael Cippolini, this activity will focus on the concept of "abstraction", which connects both shows. The term will be explained to the children. As they explore the exhibitions, they will be encouraged to observe shapes, patterns, and colors that catch their attention. If they wish, they can choose some of these and sketch them in a notebook they bring for the activity or on sheets we will provide.

After visiting both exhibitions, they will create their own abstract composition using various materials on a small piece of cardboard (in passepartout style). The focus will be on key elements of abstraction: tactile texture, visual texture, patterns, lines, geometric figures, among others.

Marina Oybin is a cultural journalist and art critic. She writes for La Nación and Radar, among other media outlets. She covers events both in Argentina and abroad. She recently traveled to Dubai and Istanbul to write about their contemporary art fairs. She has interviewed Orlan, Marina Abramovic, Anish Kapoor, Christian Boltanski, Gyula Kosice, Marta Minujín, and Leandro Erlich, among other artists. She moderated a public interview with Julio Le Parc at the National Museum of Fine Arts. She curated Exploring the Collection #02 Gyula Kosice at the Amalita Collection. She serves on juries for both national and international visual arts awards and is the author of numerous exhibition texts and catalogues.

Each participant should bring: a sheet of paper or a small notebook and a pencil. Also, small pieces of different fabrics, sponge fragments, magazines, newspapers, colored paper for cutting, scissors, pieces of corrugated or regular cardboard, threads, yarn, and natural elements (dried leaves, flower petals, etc.).

The activity has limited spots, and requires prior registration through the following form:
