Monsalve, Oscar

Colombian photographer. He had his first contact with photography in the 1970s while studying sociology in Chile. Following the coup against Salvador Allende, he returned to Colombia, worked as a ceramist, and had a job at the airport. He later specialized in fine art photography and worked with museums and galleries for twenty years. Since 1996, he has been dedicated to photojournalism in magazines such as Cromos, Gatopardo, and Credencial. He admires war photography, particularly the work of Robert Capa, as well as Sebastião Salgado, the photographer of Brazil's displaced people. He is considered one of the best photographers in his country.
