Gersbach, Roberto

This artist was of German origin (1863-1936) and settled in Argentina in the 1880s. He first established himself in Buenos Aires and later in Sáenz Peña, in the province of Chaco, where he worked as a photographer. He had a notable career as a painter and, more importantly, as a drawing and painting teacher at the Colegio Nacional San Martín and the Escuela Regional de Corrientes. Alongside Adolfo Mors and Wolfgang Scheller, he formed the trio of teachers who laid the foundation for the plastic arts in Corrientes in the 20th century. His first advertisements appeared in newspapers in 1890, offering "promptness and affordability." In 1895, he announced his "Cosmopolitan Photography," a large workshop for drawing and painting.
