Ortiz Monasterio, Pablo

An economist from UNAM, he studied photography at Ealing Technical College in London during the seventies. His work falls within the realm of photojournalism and is characterized by constructing photographic essays on specific themes: indigenous tribes, peasants, and fishermen. He also engages in digital experimentation and audiovisual projects. He has been one of the most important promoters and editors of photography in Mexico and was the director of the collections "México Indígena" and "Río de Luz," as well as the magazine "Luna Córnea." Additionally, he is a co-founder of the Mexican Council of Photography and co-founder of the Centro de la Imagen, the most important photography dissemination center in Mexico. He has held solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, the Centro de la Imagen, and the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico, and more recently, in 2012, he exhibited "Inhabiting Darkness" at the Centro Português de Fotografia in Oporto.
