Kirchhoff, Herbert

German photographer who traveled throughout his life taking photographs. Known as a contributor to La Prensa and La Nación in Buenos Aires, Kirchhoff was primarily a prolific editor of photographic books on various Latin American countries, combining his images of landscapes, inhabitants, and customs with texts that often he wrote himself. Among his notable publications are Bolivia en acción (1949), which reveals the ethnographic diversity, folklore, and modern aspect of that country, and Perú (1958), which features numerous photos of Lima and the provinces, aiming to project a vision of Peru's past and present.
