Jiménez, Ricardo

He is a Venezuelan photographer born in Caracas in 1951. He obtained a diploma in photography from the Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design in Bournemouth, England, in 1981. In his images, he assumes the role of a silent observer and accomplice to what he portrays, seeking to transcend reality and shape a sort of short story. His works have been exhibited in Caracas and Madrid. He was recognized with the Luis Felipe Toro Photography Award in 1985 (V Guayana Biennial 1997) and received an honorable mention in the Josune Dorronsoro Latin American Photography Award in 2001. He has published books such as "Desde el cerro" (1993), "Paisaje vertical" (2018), and "PhotoBolsillo" (2018). His work has been included in publications such as "Nueve miradas" (2001), "Mapas abiertos: fotografía latinoamericana" (2002), "Fotolibro latinoamericano" (2011), and "Urbes mutantes: Latin American Photography" (2012). He is the co-founder, along with Ricardo Gómez Pérez, of the photography firm Ricar2, which has been active since 1985. His works are held in public and private collections in Caracas, Bogotá, Madrid, and Buenos Aires. He currently lives and works in Caracas.
