Ginzburg, Carlos

Carlos Ginzburg (La Plata, 1946) is a conceptual artist and theorist. He studied Philosophy at the National University of La Plata and was a member of the Diagonal Cero Movement and the Group of Thirteen. In 1969, he began his projects of "ecological art" and "signage." Between 1972 and 1982, he traveled the world as a "traveling artist." Throughout his career, he has worked with art critics and historians such as Jorge Glusberg, Germano Celant, Pierre Restany, and Severo Sarduy. Ginzburg has had solo exhibitions at 3e Rue Galerie, Paris; Susan Conde Gallery, New York; Galerie Lina Davidov, Paris; and the Internationaal Cultureel Centrum, Antwerp. He has participated in group exhibitions at institutions such as pour l'art contemporain, Paris; PROA Foundation, Buenos Aires; Reina Sofía Museum, Madrid; Wurttemburgischer Kunstverein, Stuttgart; Slought Foundation, Philadelphia; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; MoMA PS1, New York; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; Camden Art Centre, London; International Encounter of the Arts, Pamplona, Spain; Center for Art and Communication (CAyC), Buenos Aires; and the Torcuato di Tella Institute, Buenos Aires. His work is part of the collections of the Centre Georges Pompidou, Fonds National d'Art Contemporain, the Reina Sofia Museum, and the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires, among others. He has lived and worked in Paris since 1972.
