Bartelsman, Gertjan

His family moved to Colombia in 1950. He began his career as a photographer in the 1970s, working for several advertising agencies and as a photojournalist with major publications in Colombia and international news services. At the same time, on the artistic side, he participated in five Colombian films and over thirty exhibitions in Colombia and abroad, including two Venice Biennales and three Latin American Photography Colloquiums in Mexico. He has produced photographic chronicles on subjects such as passengers, buses, bars and taverns, and punk pogo dance in Medellin, and more recently, the series on roosters. He currently lives and works in Medellin.
