Alphonsus, Luiz

(Brazil 1948)

Representative of the 1970s, Alphonsus’s work features landscapes, entwining photography with poetry and using many different mediums such as painting, design, installations and film. While some of his works reflect the tensions experienced in Brazil by the military dictatorship, others turn to more universal themes, such as the passage of time and the human and social patchwork that is Rio de Janeiro.
