Cruz belongs to a generation of photojournalists that gives the informative a unique personal twist. An impassioned photographer of Mexico City (a bona fide ‘street’ photographer), he has documented historical moments in the life of his country and further afield, such as the 1985 earthquake, the 1988 presidential election, the uprising of the EZLN (Zapatista Army of National Liberation) in Chiapas, and the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua.
