Description

"Mácula" is a book project that proposes an immersion into how affective connections are created with and alongside the images of our era, the techniques for which - at the same time - the only guarantee of their existence is to remain elusive. "Mácula" poses the question of whether it is through these images or, conversely, from where habits, production, and the encoding of life originate. Simonassi illustrates how we construct and inhabit the population of those simulacra commonly known as photographs, while also noting that we neither unfold nor act except as part of that population.

The book delves into what we contemplate and what we encode. It raises questions about what we obscure in what we see, how we desire, and what happens as the image dissolves in our memory. It questions whether what we remember is distinguishable from what we know, revealing the expansiveness in the retention of the image. It highlights how the modes of our narrative and our affinities have become affective and embodiment machinic.
