Hair Stories, by Alejandra González

Hair has been a subject of interest in anthropology since its beginnings. It is highlighted as a symbol and a fundamental element in various rituals across many cultures. What are these practices like? What do they mean? In this talk, we will share some of these stories.

Alejandra González (Buenos Aires) is an archaeologist, artist, and editor. Since 2002, she has conducted rock art research in northwestern Argentina. She has participated in the Manifiesto Alegría residency in Salta and Vatelón in Uruguay. She took part in the Muff Festival in Montevideo, working alongside Rosângela Rennó, and received the PAC Foto grant at Gachi Prieto Gallery. She was the co-founder of Asunción Casa Editora. In 2015, she published Rota, a book that explores family photo archives through an archaeological lens.
