Balaguer, Alejandro

Communicator, journalist-photographer, editor. He has had an extensive professional career in Latin America and the Caribbean for over 28 years. He is known for his audiovisual productions, photographic and television reports, and educational campaigns promoting sustainable development and social equity in the region. He began his work as a correspondent for major agencies and magazines covering the internal war of the Shining Path in the Andes and the Amazon, focusing on indigenous peoples, the most vulnerable, and children to draw attention from the public opinion. He has produced and hosted over 150 television programs, news reports, and documentaries on environmental, scientific, ethnic, and social issues. He is the author of 25 books promoting the cultural and natural heritage of Latin America through images, chronicles, and interviews. Currently, he is the general director of the Albatros Media Foundation, an organization specialized in educational communication, associated with major media outlets, aiming to increase environmental awareness by demonstrating the importance of natural resources and promoting real solutions for sustainable development in the region, using comprehensive communication strategies and technological advances for its purposes. Through Albatros Media, he directs and hosts educational campaigns consisting of a series of mass communication products: the one-hour program Al Natural and news reports broadcast by more than 50 television channels in 11 countries, as well as audiovisual exhibitions in public spaces, articles, and children's books donated to the most needy groups.
