Vellojín, Manolo

(Colombia 1943-2013)

One of the great exponents of geometric abstraction in Colombia, Vellojín’s work featured austere symmetries, rigid and severe lines, whose themes almost invariably circled religion and spirituality. In the words of María Rodríguez, he was "an artist with a refined approach to the treatment of religious themes, who fell neither into fanaticism nor decadent anachronism."
