Uno a uno is an exercise in sensitive memory and collective editing. Within the pages of this photobook, published by Sub and La Balsa in December 2021, images from two moments of Argentina’s recent history collide, contend, and ultimately meet. Through a process of exchange and collective meaning-making that involved participants from different fields, a unified narrative was constructed based on advertisements and images of media appropriation published in the 1990s, alongside documentary photographs from the year 2001.

The photobook invites each reader to reflect on the reach of the discourse produced by magazines and its counterpart in public space. The aim was to highlight the tension between two antagonistic languages: the discourse created by the mass media and advertising during the 1990s, and the direct documentary record of what was happening in 2001.
