Screening of the film “Anatole, Decalogue for a Portrait” (2020)

In collaboration with Pinta BAphoto and Galería Vasari, the Larivière Foundation will present on October 4 at 4 p.m. the documentary Anatole, Decalogue for a Portrait, directed by Alejandro Saderman. The screening inaugurates the 2025 Tribute Artist section of Pinta BAphoto, dedicated to highlighting key figures in photography.

The documentary revisits the life and work of Anatole Saderman (1904–1993), a pioneer of photographic modernity in Argentina. Born in Moscow, he emigrated to South America in 1926 and, after his first steps in Montevideo and Asunción, settled in Buenos Aires, where he became one of the most renowned portraitists of visual artists and cultural figures. Alongside Annemarie Heinrich, Grete Stern, and Horacio Coppola, he was part of the group that revolutionized photography in the country. His work is included in prestigious collections such as MoMA in New York and MALBA in Buenos Aires.

With this screening, the Larivière Foundation pays tribute to a master whose work not only portrayed generations of creators but also helped define the visual identity of Argentine culture in the 20th century.
